In 2012, Thokozile Muwamba, joined the Zambian military.
She was later nominated to be part of Zambain Air Forces programme focused on training female pilots in order to bridge the gap in such field.
However, clocking 24, Muwamba, a second lieutenant has become Zambia's first female fighter pilot.
Muwamba said while she has faced various challenges in her career, most people were also proud whenever they see her - a female - as a fighter pilot.
She had also told a local media in Zambia that: “Men are not a competition but counterparts that one should work with, and hence women should begin to participate and realise their abilities. Because of this understanding, I am ready to undertake this task ahead of me."
“I look at the fact that when I am in the aeroplane, the aircraft knows no gender as it depends on my input even if I am a woman. I can also give it the right steering for it to respond correctly,” Muwamba said.
