Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has supposedly criticized John Mikel Obi for his moe to Chinese Super League side Tianjon TEDA.
Speaking to the Mirror, the Belgium international said he would prefer playing at a big club and less money than move to China.
Mikel joined Tianjin TEDA after failing to make an impression on the first team under Antonio Conte, who took charge in the summer.
There, the 29-year-old will earn a reported to earn £140,000 per week in the CSL that boasts of former Blues teammates, Oscar and Ramires.
When asked by Mirror on why he never took the same path as his former teammates, the 24-year-old said: “Some players are more concentrated on what they will do after their football career and want to make sure their lives are financially settled.
“I prefer to play in big teams, earn a little less money and win trophies.”
Mikel, during his spell in England won two Premier League crowns, four FA Cup successes and one Champions League – scoring six times in 372 appearances.
